Save the small preferences that make a plan yours

· 3 min read · OperatorOS

After a day of managing a store, even a simple weekend plan can mean repeating the same details: how far you want to travel, what kind of place you enjoy and how much time you actually have. Personal preferences gives those details a saved home outside an individual AI conversation. You can use the notebook yourself, whether or not you connect an assistant.

These steps use Personal in the live web companion for existing OperatorOS customers. Connected AI use requires Pro and a supported, authorized connection with Personal access. Web-only signup and billing remain coming soon.

01

Choose a preference worth keeping

Imagine a fictional manager, Morgan, planning a day out after a busy week. Morgan prefers a short drive, somewhere with outdoor seating and an afternoon finish. Those details are useful next month as well as this weekend.

Save a preference that helps you make a decision. Keep a temporary booking or a one-time arrangement in a note instead, and include a date when the context matters. A preference should describe what suits you now, rather than become a rule you forget to revisit.

Day trips: prefer a drive under an hour, outdoor seating when the weather allows, and time to be home by late afternoon.
02

Save it in Personal

  1. 1Sign in to the web companion with your existing OperatorOS account and open Personal.
  2. 2Choose Preferences, then Add. Give the record a recognizable Title, such as Day trips.
  3. 3Enter the useful details. Leave Person (optional) empty for your own general preference, or choose an existing Personal person when the record concerns them.
  4. 4Choose Save to Personal. Check that the new card appears with the title and details you intended.

Work and Personal are separate spaces. This entry belongs in Personal; it does not need a store or a professional People profile. Nothing in this process imports your contacts or copies previous private AI chats.

03

Use it when you need a plan

Return to Preferences and use its search field to find the saved detail. You can read it while planning for yourself, then choose Edit if your circumstances have changed. For Morgan, a different work schedule might mean replacing the afternoon finish with a more flexible time.

If you want a connected assistant to use the record, open AI access in Personal and review that connection’s spaces and read/write permissions. Personal is unavailable to connected AIs until you explicitly allow it. Only enable access for an assistant you intend to use.

With a supported connection and the appropriate access, ask the assistant to check your saved Personal preferences before suggesting a plan. Ask it to identify the record it used. Switching assistants does not transfer their private conversations; the continuity comes from the OperatorOS records each authorized assistant can retrieve.

04

Keep the preference useful

Practical tip: put one topic in each record. Day trips and gift ideas will be easier to find and update as separate entries than as a long list called Everything about me.

The expected result is a small, readable reference you can return to and, when you choose, make available to a supported connected AI. Revisit it when your needs change so an old preference does not keep shaping a new plan.
